The population development of Slovakia has undergone several unique and historically unique changes between the Spanish influenza and COVID-19 pandemics, which have not only significantly influenced its character and the functioning of Slovak society, but will also significantly influence its future direction. It is precisely to reveal the main developmental features and transformational changes in individual demographic processes, as well as to indicate some of their main conditionalities, that this publication attempts. It is the result of more than two decades of research by two leading scholars in the field of historical and modern demography in Slovakia.
